The Brace
Club and Flight Camp
The Brace Outdoor Club is nestled in the southern end of the Berkshires, surrounded by mountain beauty and quaint New England towns. The Club is a great weekend get away for outdoor enthusiasts as well those more interested in antiques and cozy bed and breakfasts. Mountainbiking, hiking and hourseback riding trails and a new linear park run adjacent to the grounds. Within walking distance are two golf courses. |

Swimming and rock climbing spots dot the surrounding parks. The nearby lakeside towns feature boating, fishing and whitewater raft/canoe tour operations. Lime Rock features a NASCAR raceway. In the nearby villages of Great Barrington, Millerton, Copake, Lakeville and Salisbury are bed and breakfast hotels, fine country inns and great dining. Tanglewood concerts and other attractions are around the corner in the Berkshires. |
The flight park is built on the site of the most sought after free-flying destination in the North East. Mt. Brace has been a popular flight destination because the range's smooth geography and high altitude allow for pleasant soaring in the most common SW to NW wind directions. The farming valley bellow and immense scale of the range help generate large, cohesive thermals. Nearby are other sites that are being developed for N and ESE launching, and a stationary towing operation will be running on the club grounds to keep all the weekends flyable! |
